This might be the Secret behind Facebook’s new algorithm — what will it do in reality? And why do they implement it?

There is so much frustration about what Facebook recently have done — and I must admit I found the news a bit weird as well at first.

First I thought that these news are the same as they have already done in the recent years and it’s probably just because 2017 Q4 would be less than expected. However, when I saw those numbers and they were more or less as I would have expected Facebook to have done without those news I got thinking long and hard about this.

Facebook is seeing what we are not. The industry that Facebook makes all their money from (Advertising) is not even spending more than a fraction of the industries budget there.

Yes, Mark Zuckerberg comes out to make the point that they will focus to show more from friends and family — all of that might be true — but… Facebook is also a monster of a marketing machine — that message only tell me that they want you to spend more time on it because then Facebook is worth more for Investors and Advertisers.

Facebook is in this for the real long run. Maybe another 10–30 years.

It may sound shocking — but Facebook has already been around for 10+ years. Yet, we don’t seem to understand how long-term thinking Facebook is applying to their product.

I saw a shocking report the other day from IAB / PwC (link below) where 88% of DIGITAL MARKETING is still not being used on smart/intelligent Facebook marketing. Search (Google/Youtube) is shockingly 47%.

We need to understand that Facebook and other social media is what is taking over from TV, newspapers — and what is going to literally kill programmatic banner ads.

Let’s be real. No body go to a news site, look at the banner under the article that may rotate with 5–10 others, that have no direct relevance to the user. Why do you think it’s turn out to be highly unlikely for people to actually react to it nowadays? The world has changed.

We don’t want to be bothered. If you are not relevant, we have an automated blind eye to it.

Let’s start changing the world!

Let’s help Social Media grow faster so we stay more relevant.
